Northpiece is the smallest of the four continental islands of Empyrean, located to the north of Ispin. Despite the island's size, much of the land is fertile. It provides a large majority of the food for the Ziben Empire, granting it the moniker, "The Breadbasket of Empyrean." The island is under the control of a small number of prestigious noble families known as the Council of Nobility, who own a large portion of the industry within Empyrean.

In recent years, the island has received a large influx of nobles who fled from Ispin due to the invasion of the Kartel from Wespeace. Despite its close proximity to the threat, Northpiece has remained mainly neutral in the fight against the Kartel.
